Entry-Level Meters ($30–60)
Good for getting indicative readings and understanding relative noise levels. Not suitable for data you plan to present in formal settings, but great for personal awareness and campaign inspiration.
Class 2 Meters ($100–300)
The standard for serious advocacy. Class 2 meters meet IEC 61672 standards and produce data suitable for presentation to city councils, HOAs, and other decision-making bodies. These are the same meters in our rental fleet.
Class 1 Meters ($500+)
For organizers who expect legal scrutiny or need the highest accuracy. Class 1 meters are laboratory-grade and produce data suitable for expert testimony and legal proceedings.
Smartphone Apps
Convenient but less accurate than dedicated meters. Use these for personal awareness and preliminary measurements. Always calibrate before each session.

Free / $4 ProWell-reviewed consumer app. Frequency weighting, data logging in pro version.
Note: Smartphone microphones are not calibrated for precision measurement. Readings can vary by 3–5 dB from true levels. For data you plan to present formally, use a dedicated meter.
