1. What We Collect

Quiet The Mowers is a civic-tech platform. We collect only what we need to make the platform work:

  • Account information: Name, email address, and optional profile details when you create an account.
  • Petition signatures: Name, email, ZIP code, and optional comment when you sign a petition. Your email is never displayed publicly.
  • Measurement data: Noise readings, timestamps, locations, and optional photos/audio when you upload measurements.
  • Testimonials: Stories you choose to share, with your preferred level of attribution.
  • Rental requests: Name, shipping address, and payment information when you rent a sound meter.

2. How We Use Your Data

  • To connect you with campaigns and organizers in your area
  • To send campaign updates to petition signers (opt-out available)
  • To aggregate anonymized noise data for regional heatmaps and advocacy
  • To process device rentals and shipping
  • To send the monthly newsletter (opt-in only)

We never sell your data. We never share your email address with third parties without your explicit consent.

3. Your Choices

  • Measurement privacy: Each measurement can be public, anonymous-public ("a user in 80303"), or private.
  • Testimonial attribution: You choose how your story is credited — full name, first name only, or anonymous.
  • Email: Opt out of any email category at any time. Every email includes an unsubscribe link.
  • Profile visibility: Public organizer profiles are opt-in. You may remain anonymous as an organizer.

4. Data Retention & Deletion

We retain your data as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the platform. You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting privacy@quietthemowers.com. Petition signatures are retained to maintain the integrity of campaign records, but personal information is removed upon request.

5. Cookies

We use essential cookies for authentication and session management. We use Plausible Analytics for anonymous, privacy-respecting usage statistics — no tracking cookies, no personal data collection.

6. Third-Party Services

  • Clerk — Authentication provider. See Clerk's privacy policy.
  • Stripe — Payment processing for device rental shipping. See Stripe's privacy policy.
  • Resend — Transactional email delivery. See Resend's privacy policy.
  • Cloudflare — Hosting and CDN. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.

7. Children's Privacy

Quiet The Mowers is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
